Is Hair Removal As Seen On TV The Right Choice For You?
Hair removal as seen on TV is becoming increasingly common, both for cosmetic and medical reasons. There are many different types of people undergoing hair removal treatments, from people waiting for gender change operations to those recovering from cancer, and of course the inevitable thousands who are just seeking a cosmetic improvement. Television itself has been responsible for a large part of this growth, both by making people aware of the possibilities open to them, and of course by helping to reinforce the stereotypes of what looks aesthetic and what does not.
If you feel that you have a need for a hair removal treatment, the first thing to do is assess why. Exactly what is it about the current situation which is troubling you? Of course, if you want to have a gender change operation there are far bigger issues at stake, and you will need to prepare yourself for the long course of treatments you will need to go through. If your reason for wanting a hair removal treatment is to mask the effects of chemotherapy or other cancer treatment, you will need to look for a temporary solution.
Temporary solutions usually involve waxing or sugaring the relevant area in an attempt to remove the hair follicle from the root. This will always work to some degree, but the hair will usually grow back again after a few weeks. It is possible for sugaring especially to effect a permanent solution, by damaging the hair roots so that they never do grow back. These solutions are usually the most suitable for those seeking cosmetic improvement, because they carry relatively little risk if they are carried out properly.
Most of the hair removal solutions which have been featured on television are the more permanent ones. The American Food and Drug Administration only considers electrolysis to be a permanent treatment, even though it has licensed the other systems for use. Independent research actually suggests that modern Alexandrite laser therapy is actually more effective. The other modern laser treatment, Yag, is even more powerful, but it has been demonstrated to cause more pain than the other systems. It is probably advisable not to use it unless you need to.
If you are looking at hair removal as seen on TV as a way to judge which treatment to go in for, you need to think of the motivation of the TV platform you are watching. If it is a commercial, them it will obviously not be giving you a balanced and objective view of all the different possibilities. Even if it is a supposedly independent review, it could still contain some bias. Make sure that you don't accept any one opinion as being the truth. Get multiple opinions as there is a lot at stake. Don't allow yourself to be swayed by hair removal as seen on TV.
